Delta hosts electron microscopy open house

STOCKTON -- Discover worlds within our world as Delta College hosts a free open house on April 11 showcasing the College’s unique𳦳ٰDzDzDZDz.

The public is welcome to attend the open house, which runs from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Delta’s powerful microscopes will be on full display. With magnification of 100,000 times or greater, the microscopes produce amazing and even beautiful images of objects that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye.

Delta’selectronmicroscopyprogram is the only one of its kind at a U.S. community college. Graduates have landed rewarding careers at laboratories across the country.

Last year,electronmicroscopywas among more than 20 career programs at Delta to be recognized by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office for thesuccess of graduates.Those who finished the program saw an average 168 percent increase in their earnings.

“We encourage members of the public to come to our open house and learn more about howelectronmicroscopymight be a good fit for them,” said Professor Frank Villalovoz.

The public will be able to tour the laboratories, speak with staff and see demonstrations. Food will also be served.

The open house will take place at the Center forMicroscopyand Applied Sciences, on the southeast side of campus adjacent to the L3 and L4 parking lots. A campus map is availablehere.More details about the program are availablehere.
